Key objectives
- To provide a performance oriented musical education program for the students of Ashbury Public School.
- Maintain four bands: Concert Band, Intermediate Band, Training Band and Jazz Band to ensure an effective system of training and performance can be implemented.
- Maintain and improve the resources available to the students participating in the band program.
Organisation
The band program is directed by Mr Jason Isaac who also conducts the rehearsals and performances of the four bands.
The program is financed entirely by the parents of students involved and administered by voluntary members of the P&C Band sub-committee. The Principal of Ashbury Public School and a Liaison committee member of staff work closely with the Band sub-committee to ensure a coordinated approach to both school requirements and band program objectives.
All students from Year 3 up, regardless of musical experience, can participate in the band program. They receive instrumental lessons from visiting tutors outside school time, can participate in silver and gold badge assessments (or take AMEB exams where these are available).
